Japanese Beetle Solutions

Be prepared! The Japanese Beetle have been spotted in the Midwest.

Japanese beetle larvae are typical white grubs. They live in the soil from August until June, and feed on plant roots, turf grass, and organic matter.

Japanese Beetles eat everything around them, causing a great deal of damage in a short period of time. They chew on more than 350 different varieties of plants. Some favorites include asparagus, fruit trees, raspberries, and grapes. They also feast on maple trees, birch trees, roses, and other varieties of trees and shrubs.

This type of beetle ruins leaves by eating the tissue between the veins. This is a type of feeding called skeletonizing. Groups of a dozen or more beetles at a time completely consume plants, devastating both flowers and fruits.

Controlling the Japanese Beetle

Traps are most effective when positioned at the perimeter of your property away from desirable plants, or when mass trapping occurs. Japanese Beetle Traps are very effective, but draw a lot of beetles in. Make sure to ready yourself with plenty of replacement bags.
